Supporters and Relatives of Yerevan Gunmen, Ordinary Bystanders Forcibly Detained by Police (VIDEO)

Four young supporters of the Founding Parliament anti-government gunmen occupying a Yerevan police station since early Sunday – Anushik Harutyunyan, sisters Elmone and Simone Yeghnukyan, and a still unidentified young man – were detained by police officers at around 3 pm today not far from the station as they were preparing a poster that read “There’s no other way.”

Karo Yeghnukyan, a senior Founding Parliament member, told reporters that police did not present any grounds for detaining the young people; he added that his daughters had specifically been targeted by the police and the other people were only arrested to steer attention away from this fact.

Yeghnukyan himself, along with bystanders Anton Ivchenko and Maksim Sargsyan, was forcibly detained shortly after. The men have reportedly been taken to the Erebuni detention center. The wife and the daughter of Varuzhan Avetisyan, one of the armed men inside the station, have also been taken away by the police.
