5:30 pm Arayik Khandoyan, one of the gunmen who’ve been occupying a Yerevan police station since July 17, has been wounded, according to a statement posted on the armed group’s Facebook page.

Speaking to 1in.am, one of the group’s leaders, Varuzhan Avetisyan, claimed that Khandoyan was shot by a police sniper as he went to check out a drone flying over the seized police station. Avetisyan added that he was still unsure whether the ambulance crew inside the building would be able to treat the injured.

“If [authorities] continue in this fashion, then we’ll have to use weapons for self-defense,” Avetisyan said.
