Grants Coordinator for EU Delegation to Armenia Arrested on Suspicion of Embezzlement

Marine Papyan, Grant Program Coordinator for the European Union´s Delegation to Armenia, has been arrested on Thursday on suspicion of embezzling EU grant funds, according to a statement issued by the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Papyan, the officials said, is suspected to have appropriated large sums allocated by the EU delegation.

13 other people – Tigran Sukiasyan, Gevorg Ghazaryan, Rubina Ter-Martirosyan, Armen Bareghamyan, Anahit Avagyan, Sergey Balasanyan, Dina Manukyan, Karen Stepanyan, Tereza Dilanyan, Alexander Poghosyan, Hrayr Gyonjyan, Garik Chilingaryan and Gegham Petrosyan – are under investigation for embezzlement, assisting embezzlement, and documents forgery, the statement reads, adding that Hrayr Gyonjyan, Garik Chilingaryan and Gegham Petrosyan are currently being searched for.
