Ruling Party Member Swears at Oppositionist as She Opposes Granting Apartments to Actors and Singer ‘In Need’

At a Wednesday meeting of Yerevan’s Council of Elders, a member of the ruling Republican Party, architect Levon Igityan swore at Marina Khachatryan, a representative of the Yerkir Tsirani (Country of Apricots) faction, calling her a “b*tch” and urging Khachatryan to “shut up when I’m talking.”

Igityan did not like the fact that Khachatryan had spoken against the project of granting the title of honorary citizen of Yerevan to filmmaker Artavazd Peleshyan, TV presenter Nare Shlepchyan, writer Razmik Davoyan and VivaCell company director Ralph Yirikyan, as well as apartments to singer Ruben Matevosyan, actor Rudolf Ghevondyan and dancer Sevak Avetisyan.

In her speech, as reported by News.am, the Yerkir Tsirani member had argued that these people had done nothing for the Armenian capital and hed kept silent while mayor Taron Margaryan and his team were busy destroying Yerevan. And for this very reason, according to Khachatryan, Margaryan had decided to grant them the title of a Yerevan honorary citizen.
