Condition of Yerevan Transgender Women ‘Critical but Stable’ After Brutal Attack

The condition of the transgender woman who was on Tuesday night brutally beaten up in her Yerevan apartment remains critical but stable, Right Side NGO head Lilit Maritoryan told Epress.am on Thursday. The victim’s hearing, Martirosyan said, is back, but she has yet to start talking.

“Her condition is currently critical but stable; she is still in the intensive care unit. We do not know for sure whether she is getting better or worse, but doctors estimate her condition as of average severity. She does not react at all; she can not even open her eyes,” the Right Side head added.

Right Side lawyer Vahe Manukyan, in turn, informed us that law enforcement authorities have launched a criminal case under article 112 of Armenia’s criminal code – intentional infliction of serious harm to health. “The case has been sent to the Investigative Committee. We do not currently know whether the suspect has been arrested.”
