Mayor of Armenian Town Arrested in Connection to Mass Disorder

Masis mayor Davit Hambardzumyan and deputy mayor Karen Ohanyan, as well as 3 other persons, have been arrested in connection to mass disorders in Yerevan district of Erebuni on April 22, Sona Truzyan, adviser to the President of RA Investigative Committee, told Epress.am.

Earlier, on April 25, RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal investigation into the case of an attack on civilians and use of violence by a group of masked persons near the crossroads of Erebuni and Nor-Aresh 26 streets.

A citizen had reported that, around 13:00 near the crossroads of Erebuni and Nor-Aresh 26 streets, masked persons attacked him and a number of other participants of the march and beat them with stones, batons and stun devices, causing bodily injuries to several persons.

The march on that day was carried out in demand of RA Prime Minister Serj Sargsyan’s resignation
