{"id":100423,"date":"2011-05-30T13:28:07","date_gmt":"2011-05-30T08:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=100423"},"modified":"2011-05-30T13:29:35","modified_gmt":"2011-05-30T08:29:35","slug":"germany-to-scrap-all-nuclear-power-by-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/05\/30\/germany-to-scrap-all-nuclear-power-by-2022.html","title":{"rendered":"Germany to Scrap All Nuclear Power by 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Germany&#8217;s ruling coalition says it has agreed a date of 2022 for the shutdown of all of its nuclear power plants, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-13592208\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">BBC reports<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Environment Minister Norbert Rottgen made the announcement after a meeting of the ruling coalition that lasted into the early hours of Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Angela Merkel had set up an ethics panel to look into nuclear power following the disaster at the Fukushima plant in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Germany saw mass anti-nuclear protests in the wake of the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>Rottgen said the seven oldest reactors, which were already subject to a moratorium, and the Kruemmel nuclear power plant, would not resume.<\/p>\n<p>Six others would go offline by 2021 at the latest and the three newest by 2022, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rottgen said: &#8220;It&#8217;s definite. The latest end for the last three nuclear power plants is 2022.
