Corporation and Akhtala Ore Processing Plant CJSC Serop Der-Boghossian, who was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/02\/10\/armenian-american-businessman-arrested-in-child-sex-scandal.html\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">arrested in February<\/span><\/strong><\/a> on sex abuse charges, began in the Lori District Court of First Instance today.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/hetq.am\/eng\/news\/2688\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Hetq Online<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, Der-Boghossian refused to enter the courtroom in the presence of reporters. Upon a motion by his attorney, journalists were prohibited from sitting in on the trial.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/06\/10\/ra-general-prosecutor-confirms-indictment-against-accused-in-pedophilia-case.html\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">previously reported<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, Der-Boghossian is charged under RA Criminal Code Article 139 Section 2 Paragraph 3 (violent sexual acts done against a minor) and Section 3 (\u201cThe actions mentioned in part 1 or 2 of this Article done against an aggrieved under 14 years of age\u201d). The RA General Prosecutor, in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genproc.am\/en\/121\/item\/6694\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">earlier statement<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, stated that, between 2004\u20132010, Der-Boghossian paid young boys, orphans from poor families, \u201cto have sexual intercourse with him against their will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If found guilty, Der-Boghossian faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>The trial, reported Hetq Online, was later postponed to Jul. 21 so that attorneys could familiarize themselves with the case materials.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trial of president and owner of Metal Prince Ltd.
