{"id":120857,"date":"2011-08-23T04:45:54","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T23:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=120857"},"modified":"2011-08-23T19:41:53","modified_gmt":"2011-08-23T14:41:53","slug":"only-park-in-armavir-to-be-replaced-by-a-bank-and-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/08\/23\/only-park-in-armavir-to-be-replaced-by-a-bank-and-church.html","title":{"rendered":"Armavir&#8217;s Only Park to be Replaced by a Bank and Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apparently the Armavir Town Park where tree felling and rapid construction have taken place since May 2011 is not actually a park, according to official documents, say Armavir Park supporters, reads a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecolur.org\/en\/news\/cities\/the-only-park-in-armavir-stopped-to-exist-when-city-plan-was-modified\/2865\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">statement<\/span><\/strong><\/a> by local environmental organization Ecolur.<\/p>\n<p>According to Armavir&#8217;s new city plan, the park is a territory that falls under the jurisdiction of Armavir Municipality and not a park. Currently, the park has been sold and there are plans to construct a bank, church and veterinary pharmacy on the land.<\/p>\n<p>Armavir residents are unaware of the public hearings of construction projects in progress in the park territory, reads the Ecolur statement. In this regard, EcoLur has contacted Armenia&#8217;s Ministry of Nature Protection with the following questions:<\/p>\n<p>On what grounds has the RA Ministry of Nature Protection permitted tree felling in the only public park in the town of Armavir and constructed buildings?<\/p>\n<p>When were the public hearings on building projects held?<\/p>\n<p>Which companies are carrying out the construction?<\/p>\n<p>Has the RA Ministry of Nature Protection given the green light to these projects?
