{"id":123869,"date":"2011-09-05T12:34:47","date_gmt":"2011-09-05T07:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=123869"},"modified":"2011-09-05T12:34:47","modified_gmt":"2011-09-05T07:34:47","slug":"rome-historic-monuments-attacked-by-vandals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/09\/05\/rome-historic-monuments-attacked-by-vandals.html","title":{"rendered":"Rome Historic Monuments Attacked by Vandals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three historic monuments have been attacked by vandals in the Italian capital, Rome, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-14782948\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">reports the BBC<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the first attack, a man was caught on security cameras chipping two pieces off a marble statue on a fountain in the Piazza Navona.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hours later tourists watched as a man threw a rock at the famous Trevi Fountain in the centre of the city.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Police then said they caught an American student scaling a wall of the Colosseum to chip off pieces of marble.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fountain in the Piazza Navona is a 19th Century reproduction of a much earlier group of statues \u2014 now in a museum for safekeeping.
