On Sunday evening, amid the cheers of fans and the bloody death throes of fighting bulls, Barcelona hosted its last-ever bullfight, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2011\/sep\/25\/last-bullfight-in-barcelona?newsfeed=true\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">reports The Guardian<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>As dusk fell in the Catalan capital, sequin\u2014clad local matador Seraf\u00edn Mar\u00edn dispatched the last of six bulls on the sand of the packed La Monumental bullring \u2013 where touts had been offering tickets at eight times their original price.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/1korrida1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-129846 aligncenter\" title=\"1korrida\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/1korrida1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/1korrida1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/1korrida1-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2010\/jul\/31\/bullfighting-ban-is-sweet-revenge-for-catalonia\">bullfighting banned in Catalonia as of next year<\/a> \u2013 and with Sunday&#8217;sfight marking the end of the season in Barcelona \u2013 no Spanish fighting bull will be killed in the city in the name of sport or art for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/2korrida1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-129847 aligncenter\" title=\"2korrida\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/2korrida1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/2korrida1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/2korrida1-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Supporters denounced the ban as an infringement of civil liberties.
