{"id":130547,"date":"2011-09-28T13:27:01","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T08:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=130547"},"modified":"2011-09-28T13:33:48","modified_gmt":"2011-09-28T08:33:48","slug":"members-of-the-military-tied-to-hrant-dinks-murder-says-turkeys-chief-prosecutor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/09\/28\/members-of-the-military-tied-to-hrant-dinks-murder-says-turkeys-chief-prosecutor.html","title":{"rendered":"Members of the Military Tied to Hrant Dink&#8217;s Murder, Says Turkey&#8217;s Chief Prosecutor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u0130stanbul 14th Criminal Court Chief Public Prosecutor Hikmet Usta on Monday said connections exist between members of the military and two men who incited Og\u00fcn Samast to murder Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink outside the office of the Agos weekly in 2007, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.todayszaman.com\/news-258139-prosecutor-focuses-on-gendarmes-ties-to-dink-suspects.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">reports Today&#8217;s Zaman<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Usta said Samast and instigators Erhan Tuncel and Yasin Hayal had unusual connections to three members of the military: Spc. Sgt. Sat\u0131lm\u0131\u015f \u015eahin, Pvt. \u00dcnsal G\u00fcrel, Pvt. Resul K\u00fct\u00fcko\u011flu and Pvt. Ahmet Faruk Aydo\u011fdu.<\/p>\n<p>Usta\u2019s words show the connection between Spt. Sgt. \u015eahin and Tuncel. Investigators found that \u015eahin was in \u0130stanbul on the day of the incident, whereas Tuncel claims he was outside \u0130stanbul. In addition, \u015eahin in his statement on Mar. 30, 2007, stated that he had met Tuncel through Tuncay Uzundal while doing random ID checks. \u015eahin states that he saw Uzundal again a few times when he was carrying out inspections at Internet cafes, where Uzundal requested \u015eahin\u2019s cell phone number. A report provided by the prosecutor\u2019s office states that \u015eahin had called Tuncel 45 times and Uzundal 48 times.<\/p>\n<p>Usta\u2019s latest announcement is the first dictum which drew attention to the murder\u2019s ties to Ergenekon.
