Hovhannes Vardanyan, the soldier who became mentally ill after serving over a year of his two-year military service in Askeran, Nagorno-Karabakh, 5 days ago was released from the psychiatric clinic in the Yerevan district of Nork where he was being kept. This news was conveyed to Epress.am by the clinic’s chief doctor Anaida Pavlovna.<\/p>\n

Hovhannes’ father, Vardan Vardanyan, told Epress.am that his son is at home, and he sees some positive changes in his health.<\/p>\n

“The important thing is my son can sleep; it’s true, he sleeps late and wakes early, but he sleeps. The psychologist and psychiatrist have visited twice,” he said.<\/p>\n

Liana Hovsepyan, a psychiatrist living in the US, has expressed willingness to help them, he added.<\/p>\n

“She got in touch with us, she said she saw the video<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> and decided to help. It’s already been 3 months that she’s been sending [us]\u00a0 medication and let me say that it is quite expensive medication,” said the soldier’s father.<\/p>\n

Vardan Vardanyan also mentioned that he has no idea how much money has been collected in the campaign to help his son.<\/p>\n

“They did a good thing, but I have no information about any money; if I did, I would say that I have it,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Note, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9 am, a group of youth gathered in Liberty Square and distributed the Ardshininvestbank CJSC account number in which people could transfer funds to support Hovhannes Vardanyan’s parents.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, RA military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan instructed<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> the launch of a criminal investigation into Hovhannes Vardanyan’s case after his father, Vardan Vardanyan, charged that his son was beaten while serving in the Askeran military unit.
