{"id":133530,"date":"2011-10-07T11:55:59","date_gmt":"2011-10-07T06:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=133530"},"modified":"2011-10-07T12:12:03","modified_gmt":"2011-10-07T07:12:03","slug":"armenian-rock-bands-to-perform-in-charitable-concert-to-raise-cancer-treatment-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/10\/07\/armenian-rock-bands-to-perform-in-charitable-concert-to-raise-cancer-treatment-money.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenian Rock Bands to Perform in Charitable Concert to Raise Cancer Treatment Money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the success of <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/07\/19\/armenia-citizens-organize-concert-to-raise-money-for-expensive-breast-cancer-treatment.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Rock for Life<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>, the MamaSyu charitable foundation is organizing yet another charitable rock concert called &#8220;Rock for Life 2&#8221; on Nov. 14 at 7 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Such well-known names in Armenia&#8217;s rock scene as The Beautified Project, Empyray, Dogma and Reincarnation (though more of a reggae band than a rock band) will be performing live at Yerevan&#8217;s Puppet Theatre named after Hovhannes Tumanyan.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/225979944080104\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">MamaSyu foundation<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> aims to support women in Armenia diagnosed with breast cancer by raising public awareness as well as fundraising for expensive treatment.<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference earlier this year, MamaSyu representatives <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/04\/29\/breast-cancer-in-armenia-54000-treatment-inaccessible-for-most.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">said<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> that one in every 13 women in Armenia is diagnosed with breast cancer, 30% of whom are prescribed the expensive drug Herceptin. Each ampule of Herceptin costs $3,000 USD and a single treatment can include 18 rounds, which amounts to $54,000 USD. To top it all off, the drug is neither paid for nor subsidized by the state.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the concert is to raise funds to purchase an additional ampule of Herceptin for Susanna (Syu) Sepetchyan&#8217;s mother in Armenia who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.
