“Any force that refuses to cooperate with and support this regime and begins to fight against this regime, by only this fact becomes the people’s natural ally,” said coordinator of the Armenian National Congress’ (HAK) day-to-day affairs Levon Zurabyan, meeting with reporters in Yerevan today.<\/p>\n
“Everyone must understand the danger of the continuation of [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan’s regime for our state. The nationwide movement, the Armenian National Congress is going to be resolute till the end. Whether they’ll help us, whether separate from us they’ll also struggle against the regime \u2014 that is a question of their conscience and civic duty. We request help from no one; we simply say that there is the right side of history and whoever wants to be on the right side of history has to make his choice,” said Zurabyan, speaking about the possibility of other political parties and groups supporting the opposition bloc.<\/p>\n
Asked by reporters for comments on the killing of ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Zurabyan said the world today is witness to very unpleasant developments.<\/p>\n
“Basically, all issues are resolved through violence \u2014 Gaddafi bore the responsibility for all of that. When there is such a crisis and a gap between the regime and the people, eventually the regime decides what level that confrontation is going reach. We thought that Serzh Sargsyan might go the way of [last Communist leader of Poland from 1981\u20131989, president from 1985\u20131990 Wojciech] Jaruzelski, but today he has refused that path,” he said.<\/p>\n
The HAK representative expressed confidence that the day will come when they will use the entire arsenal of the people’s resistance and if necessary, will begin organizing an unending round-the-clock sit-in. Zurabyan noted that all factors have to mature, and he did not rule out the possibility that this might happen any day, including Oct. 28, the date of HAK’s next rally.
