{"id":137523,"date":"2011-10-27T18:09:38","date_gmt":"2011-10-27T13:09:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=137523"},"modified":"2011-10-27T18:09:38","modified_gmt":"2011-10-27T13:09:38","slug":"effects-of-1999-armenia-parliament-shooting-felt-till-today-demirchyan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/10\/27\/effects-of-1999-armenia-parliament-shooting-felt-till-today-demirchyan.html","title":{"rendered":"Effects of 1999 Armenia Parliament Shooting Felt till Today: Demirchyan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (HAK) led by HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrossian today visited the Komitas Pantheon and Yerablur military cemetery to pay their respects to First Secretary of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Karen Demirchyan and Armenia&#8217;s Prime Minister from Jun. to Oct. 1999 Vazgen Sargsyan, who were among those murdered in the <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1999_Armenian_parliament_shooting\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">1999 parliament shooting<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters, Demirchyan&#8217;s son, People&#8217;s Party of Armenia leader Stepan Demirchyan said that the circumstances surrounding the Oct. 27, 1999 shooting won&#8217;t be revealed during the current administration&#8217;s term.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The authorities did everything to cover up the Oct. 27 case, and I&#8217;m convinced that it would be quite a different situation in the country if Oct. 27 never happened.
