{"id":141331,"date":"2011-11-14T10:36:53","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T06:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=141331"},"modified":"2011-11-14T10:36:53","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T06:36:53","slug":"berlusconi-says-not-leaving-politics-calls-for-stronger-ecb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/11\/14\/berlusconi-says-not-leaving-politics-calls-for-stronger-ecb.html","title":{"rendered":"Berlusconi Says Not Leaving Politics, Calls for Stronger ECB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Silvio Berlusconi said his resignation as Italian prime minister isn\u2019t a sign that he\u2019s leaving politics, and called on the European Central Bank to become a lender of last resort to save Europe\u2019s single currency, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2011-11-13\/berlusconi-says-not-leaving-politics-calls-for-stronger-ecb.html\">Bloomberg Businessweek<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor those who say I am leaving the scene, I want to make it perfectly clear that tomorrow I will re-double my efforts in parliament to renew Italy,\u201d he said in a video message broadcast to the nation Sunday. \u201cI won\u2019t give up until we have managed to modernize Italy, to reform its instructional architecture, its justice system, its tax system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Berlusconi, 75, resigned on Saturday after his parliamentary majority evaporated as Italy lost the confidence of investors amid Europe\u2019s worsening sovereign-debt crisis.
