{"id":149824,"date":"2011-12-20T15:37:38","date_gmt":"2011-12-20T11:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=149824"},"modified":"2011-12-20T15:38:24","modified_gmt":"2011-12-20T11:38:24","slug":"femen-activists-missing-in-belarus-after-protesting-outside-kgb-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/12\/20\/femen-activists-missing-in-belarus-after-protesting-outside-kgb-building.html","title":{"rendered":"FEMEN Activists Missing in Belarus After Protesting Outside KGB Building (PHOTOS, VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three Ukrainian FEMEN activists disappeared on Monday in the Belarusian capital Minsk, after protesting in front of the KGB building against the country\u2019s long-ruling president, Aleksandr Lukashenko, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rt.com\/news\/lukashenko-kgb-femen-missing-235\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">RT<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom 6 pm Kiev time, the connection with the FEMEN activists has been lost, and one hour later all their mobile phones appeared to be switched off,\u201d a statement on the movement\u2019s webpage says.<\/p>\n<p>The movement initially announced that that Australian journalist Kitty Green, who was along to film the protest was detained with two local journalists, while three FEMEN protesters \u2013 Inna Shevchenko, Oksana Shachko and Aleksandra Nemchinova \u2013 managed to escape right after conducting their protest.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, Kitty Green and Belarusian journalists Yulia Doroshkevich and Tatiana Gavrilchik were released from detention several hours later. Green was deported to Vilnius, Lithuania, while the Ukrainian protesters went missing and their whereabouts remains unknown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-149812 aligncenter\" title=\"Femen3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has denied detaining the FEMEN protesters, nor have they confirmed that they are aware of the activists\u2019 whereabouts.<\/p>\n<p>According to FEMEN&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/femen.livejournal.com\/184210.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>LiveJournal account<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>, &#8220;Everything indicates that Inna, Sasha [Aleksandra] and Oksana are in the clutches of &#8216;legendary&#8217; Belarusian KGB, responsible for repression, death and missing persons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-149818 aligncenter\" title=\"Femen4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen4.jpg 400w, https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Femen4-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During their anti-Lukashenko protest, the topless activists chanted, &#8220;Long live Belarus!\u201d with one of them donning a Lukashenko mask.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe width=\"425\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JUQfSIBKsS8?wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dec. 19 is the anniversary of an unauthorized opposition rally that took place in Minsk in 2010 following presidential elections which was brutally dispersed by police, with many protesters beaten up and arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The FEMEN movement is notorious for politically-motivated naked protests held at home in Ukraine and in countries throughout Europe, including Vatican City.
