{"id":154626,"date":"2012-01-18T14:53:50","date_gmt":"2012-01-18T10:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=154626"},"modified":"2012-01-18T14:53:50","modified_gmt":"2012-01-18T10:53:50","slug":"this-is-the-internet-after-sopa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2012\/01\/18\/this-is-the-internet-after-sopa.html","title":{"rendered":"This is the Internet after SOPA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, many popular websites are going \u201cdark\u201d in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act (<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/follow\/topics\/stop-online-piracy-act\/\">SOPA<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The consensus among many <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/01\/06\/al-gore-sopa\/\">experts<\/a>, internet users, <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/01\/17\/google-homepage-sopa\/\">web companies<\/a> and even the <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/01\/16\/white-house-sopa-petition\/\">White House<\/a>, is that SOPA is too restrictive, too <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/01\/17\/sopa-dangerous-opinion\/\">dangerous<\/a>, too complicated and too big a threat to our privacy. Simply put, it must be stopped before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n<p>In a way, today\u2019s blackout shows what the internet might look if some of the principles in SOPA start being enforced as law. Do you like seeing big \u201cCLOSED\u201d signs on your favorite websites?
