Skyscraper Won&#8217;t be Built in Downtown Yerevan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Didas International, the company planning, to construct a 50-storey mixed-use building called Persia Tower in downtown Yerevan, has pulled the project, Union of Architects of Armenia Chair Mkrtich Minasyan told Epress.am.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Seeing the public&#8217;s reaction to the project, the developers told us they&#8217;re waiving the idea to build that 50-storey building,&#8221; he said, adding that it&#8217;s possible the company might offer another building project, but building such a skyscraper in downtown Yerevan is ruled out.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, in Nov. 2011, word got out that such a building was going to be constructed in Charles Aznavour Square (in the area between Moscow Cinema and the Artists&#8217; Union of Armenia) in downtown Yerevan. The project, &#8220;Persia Tower,&#8221; was proposed by Aryan Shahabyan, an Iranian architect living in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p>Not only the public, but also architects, urban development planners and seismologists were against the idea.
