Armenian rock band Dorians hasn’t changed its position on its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Baku and is ready to represent Armenia in the Azerbaijani capital if Armenia’s Public TV decides to participate in the contest, Dorians’ producer Vahagn Gevorgyan told Epress.am earlier today.<\/p>\n
Recall, a group of unnamed Armenian artists issued a statement on Thursday in which it urged the country’s public broadcaster to boycott the song contest in Baku. The statement was preceded by news that 20-year-old solder Albert Adibekyan was shot by an Azerbaijani sniper on the Line of Contact between Azerbaijan and the disputed Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think that’s an official decision [not to participate]; it’s a letter by some artists to [Armenia’s] Public TV in which they express their view. But the broadcaster hasn’t yet made a decision,” Gevorgyan said.<\/p>\n
Addressing the reason cited by the artists for refusing to perform in Baku (Adibekyan’s death), Dorians’ producer said:<\/p>\n
“The saddest part is that the soldier’s death yesterday is tied up with Eurovision and more uproar was evoked than the deaths of other soldiers. Not now, but long ago we should’ve reflected on the cause of [these] deaths in the army, who is to blame that soldiers are being killed.
