{"id":165590,"date":"2012-03-01T13:06:18","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T09:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=165590"},"modified":"2012-03-12T14:34:22","modified_gmt":"2012-03-12T10:34:22","slug":"yanis-sarkisov-who-killed-his-wife-on-13th-day-of-hunger-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2012\/03\/01\/yanis-sarkisov-who-killed-his-wife-on-13th-day-of-hunger-strike.html","title":{"rendered":"Man Who Murdered his Wife on 13th Day of Hunger Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yanis Sarkisov, sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Zaruhi Petrosyan, has been on a hunger strike since Feb. 17.<\/p>\n<p>As told to Epress.am by head of the public relations division of the RA Ministry of Justice&#8217;s Penitentiary Service\u00a0Gor Ghlechyan, Sarkisov has been moved to a solitary cell and is under the supervision of doctors and psychologists. His health is stable.<\/p>\n<p>Sarkisov is on a hunger strike, asking his case be reviewed and he be released.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, during the trial, Sarkisov insisted that Zaruhi killed herself by drinking poison, but the court found this implausible.<\/p>\n<p>Zaruhi Petrosyan, 20, died on Oct. 1, 2010, after ongoing abuse at the hands of Yanis Sarkisov. Zaruhi\u2019s relatives have repeatedly said that her mother-in-law was an accessory to the crime.
