{"id":172193,"date":"2012-03-30T14:52:59","date_gmt":"2012-03-30T10:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=172193"},"modified":"2012-03-30T14:55:11","modified_gmt":"2012-03-30T10:55:11","slug":"turkish-parliament-sees-fresh-fistfight-among-deputies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2012\/03\/30\/turkish-parliament-sees-fresh-fistfight-among-deputies.html","title":{"rendered":"Turkish Parliament Sees Fresh Fistfight Among Deputies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fighting broke out in the Turkish Parliament yet again yesterday as discussions during a proposed education reform degenerated first into a verbal commotion before escalating into a physical conflict among deputies, <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/turkish-parliament-sees-fresh-fistfight-among-deputies.aspx?pageID=238&amp;nID=17267&amp;NewsCatID=338\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">the Hurriyet Daily News reports<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>An argument started between Mehmet Metiner from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Veli A\u011fbaba from the main opposition Republican People\u2019 Party (CHP) after Metiner reacted to some expressions A\u011fbaba used while he was addressing the assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The argument between the deputies heated up and Metiner slapped A\u011fbaba. Metiner then squeezed A\u011fbaba\u2019s throat as other deputies moved to separate the two. A\u011fbaba reportedly yelled, \u201cWho do you think you are? Who is this bandit?\u201d as the deputies dragged the two apart.<\/p>\n<p>AKP deputy Halide \u0130ncekara, meanwhile, reacted to photographers who were taking pictures of the scuffle and reportedly said: \u201cWhat\u2019s this? What are you photographing? Is there anything to see here? What are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CHP deputies requested that Metiner be reprimanded in accordance with the parliamentary bylaw but the demand was rejected via the votes of AKP deputies.<\/p>\n<p>CHP deputy Muharrem \u0130nce addressed the Parliament after the fighting was over and said well-built AKP deputies clustered around CHP deputies whenever there was an argument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will bring guns to the General Assembly if you keep doing this.
