According to him, Nairit Plant was closed during that administration's term, and it was in the 90s that the massive looting began.

"But my speech is not about that, but about the fact that there is Rosneft, which has shown interest in Nairit and is ready to make a $500 million investment. We're entering the Customs Union; we're going to have a similar large investment. With this rhetoric of ours we're now throwing it all away," he said, arguing against creating a commission "to expose Nairit's dark past."

Responding to Geghamyan's accusations was Armenian National Congress MP, former prime minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan, who explained that Nairit was shut down because the road to Sumgait was blocked because of the Karabakh War. The opposition MP said he met with first president Levon Ter-Petrossian and raised the question of opening ways to resist air strikes to the nuclear power plant, Nairit. "It was that administration that, yes, reactivated Nairit," he said.

The initiative to create a commission on Nairit Plant came from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation faction, which suggested finding out why employees are not receiving their salaries, how did the company's debts accumulate, and the effectiveness of management, and financial and economic activity.

During a discussion to create a parliamentary commission to look into the matter of Nairit Plant, ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Artashes Geghamyan…

[10
39570,18073,29074,35181
