{"id":252065,"date":"2014-04-11T17:38:15","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T13:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=252065"},"modified":"2014-04-11T17:38:39","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T13:38:39","slug":"imprisoned-karabakh-war-veteran-supporters-protest-outside-presidents-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/04\/11\/imprisoned-karabakh-war-veteran-supporters-protest-outside-presidents-office.html","title":{"rendered":"Imprisoned Karabakh War Veteran Supporters Protest Outside President&#8217;s Office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Supporters of imprisoned Karabakh War veteran Volodya Avetisyan today held a protest on the sidewalk across the street from the president&#39;s office, demanding Avetisyan&#39;s release.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAccused of taking bribes and in pre-trial detention since September 20, 2013, Avetisyan doesn&#39;t admit the charges against him; moreover, he claims that the charges against him are a result of political persecution.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/03\/27\/arrested-karabakh-war-veteran-claims-he-was-offered-bribes-to-stay-quiet.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>In court recently<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Avetisyan said that in May last year, when the sit-in demanding a better socioeconomic situation for Karabakh War veterans began, people from the wing of the ruling elite approached him and urged him to abandon the idea of a sit-in. Instead, they promised him money and a business, in both the capital and Etchmiadzin, as well as promising to reinstate him in the system.
