{"id":253400,"date":"2014-05-16T11:51:10","date_gmt":"2014-05-16T07:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=253400"},"modified":"2014-05-16T11:52:43","modified_gmt":"2014-05-16T07:52:43","slug":"case-of-threats-made-against-mp-zaruhi-postanjyan-now-submitted-to-court-of-cassation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/05\/16\/case-of-threats-made-against-mp-zaruhi-postanjyan-now-submitted-to-court-of-cassation.html","title":{"rendered":"Case of Threats Made Against MP Zaruhi Postanjyan Now Submitted to Court of Cassation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">The Helsinki Citizens&#39; Assembly (HCA) Vanadzor office submitted an appeal in the case of Zaruhi Postanjyan to the RA Court of Cassation, asking the higher court to annul the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/05\/06\/appeals-court-sustains-lower-court-ruling-in-case-of-nationalist-who-threatened-mp-zaruhi-postanjyan.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>Court of Appeals ruling<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/hcav.am\/events\/zaruhi-3\/#\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>statement <\/strong><\/span><\/a>[AM] on the NGO&#39;s website.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRecall, on May 5, the RA Criminal Court of Appeal, considering HCA Vanadzor office President Artur Sakunts&#39; appeal in the case against Hayoc Artsivner (&quot;Armenian Eagles&quot;) NGO President Khachik Asryan for threats he made to MP Zaruhi Postanjyan (pictured), rejected the appeal. &nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe case was based on a comment Asryan made. He said: &quot;Zaruhi Postanjyan should be burned alive at the stake not as a Joan of Arc but as a Ramil Safarov.&quot; Later, Asryan said he meant not Postanjyan, but her deed, referring to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2013\/10\/02\/armenian-president-at-pace-i-do-not-gamble-in-casinos.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>Postanjyan&#39;s question<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn October 14, 2013, the HCA Vanadzor office submitted a notice about a crime to the RA General Prosecutor&#39;s office. On October 31, Special investigation Service inspector M. Babayan decided not to initiate criminal proceedings. The inspector&#39;s decision was appealed first at the RA General Prosecutor&#39;s office, where it was rejected, then the case was taken to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan. On March 4 this year, the first instance court rejected the NGO&#39;s case.
