{"id":253591,"date":"2014-05-21T11:32:23","date_gmt":"2014-05-21T07:32:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=253591"},"modified":"2014-05-21T11:33:21","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T07:33:21","slug":"77-year-old-villager-who-was-returned-to-armenia-from-azerbaijani-captivity-dies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/05\/21\/77-year-old-villager-who-was-returned-to-armenia-from-azerbaijani-captivity-dies.html","title":{"rendered":"77-Year-Old Villager Who was Returned to Armenia from Azerbaijani Captivity Dies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Mamikon Khojoyan, 77, a resident of the village of Verin Karmiraghbyur in Tavush marz (province) who returned to Armenia on March 4 after being held captive in Azerbaijan, died yesterday, Armenia&#39;s first Ombudsman, Against Legal Tyranny NGO President Larisa Alaverdyan informed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.panorama.am\/am\/region\/2014\/05\/20\/mamikon-khojoyan\/?sw\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>Panorama.am<\/strong><\/span><\/a> [AM].<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAccording to her, Khojoyan&#39;s captors injected a substance into his blood that was &quot;dangerous to his life and health&quot; and which, apparently, was the cause of death.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAlaverdyan expressed her condolences to Khojoyan&#39;s family, adding that they will be monitoring progress of the case in the European Court of Human Rights.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRecall, Khojoyan was captured on January 28, 2013. Under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Khojoyan was transferred to Armenia on March 4. He received treatment in hospital. According to doctors, he had many bruises, injuries and fractures on his body.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSeveral news sites reported Khojoyan&#39;s death, including <a href=\"http:\/\/pastinfo.am\/hy\/node\/41610\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>Pastinfo.am<\/strong><\/span><\/a> [AM], which cited Verin Karmiraghbyur village mayor Kamo Chobanyan, who said that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/03\/05\/armenian-national-held-captive-in-azerbaijan-for-35-days-has-health-issues.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>Mamikon Khojoyan&#39;s health<\/strong><\/span><\/a> severely deteriorated a week ago &mdash; to the point where it was impossible even to move him to the Berd city hospital.
