{"id":255955,"date":"2014-07-10T18:28:23","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T14:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=255955"},"modified":"2014-07-10T18:29:09","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T14:29:09","slug":"garni-village-residents-dont-want-to-share-their-irrigation-water-with-ararat-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/07\/10\/garni-village-residents-dont-want-to-share-their-irrigation-water-with-ararat-region.html","title":{"rendered":"Garni Village Residents Don&#8217;t Want to Share their Irrigation Water with Ararat Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Residents of the village of Garni today thwarted the first public hearings on a program to transfer water through pipes from Garni to the Ararat region.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tComing to the village to present the program was a delegation of 7 people headed by head of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration&#39;s State Committee of Water System Adibek Ghazaryan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSpeaking to Epress.am, the villagers said they didn&#39;t even want to hear about the details of the program, since as a result of this program, 40 households will lose their lands and the entire community will be deprived of irrigation water. Staff at the village administration told the Epress.am correspondent that the program plans to move water through a pipe measuring 820 cm in diameter from Azat River to Narek village in Ararat marz (province).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOne of the residents of the community, who preferred to remain anonymous, said if the program is implemented, the cost of irrigation water in Narek will reduce by 65%.
