{"id":256173,"date":"2014-07-17T16:17:57","date_gmt":"2014-07-17T12:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=256173"},"modified":"2014-07-17T16:19:07","modified_gmt":"2014-07-17T12:19:07","slug":"political-activist-on-trial-did-not-apply-to-ombudsmans-office-with-request-to-provide-counsel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/07\/17\/political-activist-on-trial-did-not-apply-to-ombudsmans-office-with-request-to-provide-counsel.html","title":{"rendered":"Political Activist on Trial Did Not Apply to Ombudsman&#8217;s Office with Request to Provide Counsel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Defendant in the case against Shant Harutyunyan and his friends Vardan Vardanyan didn&#39;t send a letter to the Armenian Ombudsman&#39;s office with the request to provide counsel, staff of the Ombudsman&#39;s office informed Epress.am, commenting on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/07\/16\/armenian-ombudsmans-office-didnt-provide-lawyer-because-it-lost-defendants-claim.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>the article published yesterday<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in which Vardanyan claimed in court that the Ombudsman&#39;s office lost his application.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tVardanyan&#39;s attorney Inessa Petrosyan, in conversation with Epress.am, explained that her client actually submitted his request to the police during the preliminary investigation stage, asking he be provided with a public defender, which wasn&#39;t done for 4 months.
