{"id":256771,"date":"2014-08-14T17:56:05","date_gmt":"2014-08-14T13:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=256771"},"modified":"2014-08-14T18:02:21","modified_gmt":"2014-08-14T14:02:21","slug":"armenian-mass-media-study-human-rights-offenses-most-by-the-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2014\/08\/14\/armenian-mass-media-study-human-rights-offenses-most-by-the-police.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenian Mass Media Study: Human Rights Offenses Most by the Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tNine online media sites mentioned Armenian police the most as the offending party ih human rights related articles published between May 1 and July 25, according to findings of a study conducted by Socioscope NGO&nbsp;for eTV, a joint project of&nbsp;Epress.am and the Helsinki Association for Human Rights.The study was conducted among existing publications from nine Armenian websites (Epress.am, Tert.am, Lragir.am, News.am, Azatutyun.am, Hetq.am, Galatv.am, Aravot.am, iLur.am). Overall, 1,395 articles were published related to the human rights sector during the mentioned timeframe. The number of articles in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/2014\/06\/18\/%D5%B4%D5%A1%D6%80%D5%A4%D5%B8%D6%82-%D5%AB%D6%80%D5%A1%D5%BE%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B6%D6%84%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%A8-%D5%A6%D5%AC%D5%B4-%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B4%E2%80%A4-%D5%AC%D6%80%D5%A1%D5%A3.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000CD;\"><strong>previous quarter<\/strong><\/span><\/a> [AM]&nbsp;was 1,524.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOf published articles, 23.4% mentioned the offending party as the police. Other offenders were Armenian courts and judges (14.9%), other Armenian government institutions (8.7%), and representatives of the Armenian business industry (7.6%).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAccording to the research, those who were affected most by human rights offenses were socially vulnerable groups: the elderly, women, poor people, unemployed, veterans, and people with disabilities. There were 894 articles on human rights violations in the capital, comprising 64.1% of the study. 17.7% of the articles related to the entire territory of Armenia.
