{"id":261527,"date":"2015-01-14T16:51:36","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T12:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=261527"},"modified":"2015-01-14T16:52:40","modified_gmt":"2015-01-14T12:52:40","slug":"vardges-gaspari-continues-hayk-kyureghyan%e2%80%99s-protest-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2015\/01\/14\/vardges-gaspari-continues-hayk-kyureghyan%e2%80%99s-protest-in-court.html","title":{"rendered":"Vardges Gaspari Continues Hayk Kyureghyan\u2019s Protest in Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Today, the court hearing of the adherent of political prisoners Shant Harutyunyan and his friends <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/06\/12\/young-man-opens-fire-threatens-to-release-a-grenade-outside-courthouse-video.html\" style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">Hayk Kyureghyan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\"> (pictured left)<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">&nbsp;convened at the Kentron and Nork Marash Districts Universal Court without his presence. &nbsp;On December 17, Kyureghyan was removed from the courtroom for 10 court hours because of &ldquo;his lack of respect toward the court&rdquo; &#8211; the defendant refused to rise for the judge.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">While Kyureghyan was absent from the court, political activist Vardges Gaspari (pictured right) carried on Kyuregyan&#39;s protest by also not rising when the court arrived. &ldquo;You are not a judge, you are a minion of the ruling authorities. The European Court has found 48 out of 51 of your verdicts illegal. You should be ashamed of that,&rdquo; said Gaspari to Judge Armen Bektashyan.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">The judge removed Gaspari from the courtroom, who responded by laying down in the court hallway in protest.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Public defender Angela Hebosyan represented Kyureghyan in the court. Initially, Kyureghyan had refused help for his defense, however, the court found Hebosyan&rsquo;s presence vital due to the defendant&rsquo;s absence.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Hebosyan motioned that Kyureghyan arrive at the court and express his compliance to the defender. However, Bektashyan stated that Kyureghyan&rsquo;s presence is not mandatory.
