{"id":264244,"date":"2015-04-11T12:07:49","date_gmt":"2015-04-11T08:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=264244"},"modified":"2015-04-11T12:13:41","modified_gmt":"2015-04-11T08:13:41","slug":"criminal-possession-of-weapons-charges-pressed-against-sixth-arrested-oppositionist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2015\/04\/11\/criminal-possession-of-weapons-charges-pressed-against-sixth-arrested-oppositionist.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Criminal Possession of Weapons&#8221;: Charges Pressed Against Sixth Arrested Oppositionist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tOn Friday, April 10, criminal charges pursuant to Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code (illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices) were pressed against Aram Hakobyan, the sixth member of &ldquo;Founding Parliament&rdquo; civil initiative <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/04\/07\/regime-change-in-armenia-to-start-on-genocide-remembrance-day-despite-arrests-civil-initiative.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">arrested on Tuesday, April 7<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">The Armenian law enforcement found a grenade on the roof of Hakobyan&#39;s house on the day of the arrest, authorities said. Other members of &ldquo;Founding Parliament&rdquo; have alleged&nbsp;that the grenade could have been planted there since the roof of Hakobyan&#39;s house is open. Bail was set at 500,000 AMD (about $1000) for the oppositionist.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFive other arrested members of &ldquo;Founding Parliament,&rdquo; Jirayr Sefilian, Varuzhan Avetisyan, Garegin Chugaszyan, Gevorg Safaryan, and Pavel Manukyan, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/04\/10\/charges-pressed-against-members-of-opposition-movement.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">were sentenced to a two-month imprisonment<\/span><\/a> on Thursday, April 9, on charges of organization of mass disorders. Sefilian, Avetisyanm and Manukyan have been transferred to <em>Vardashen<\/em> penitentiary, while Chugaszyan and Safaryan &#8211; &nbsp;to <em>Nubarashen<\/em> penitentiary.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>Armenian National Congress<\/em> faction MP Nikol Pashinyan met with the arrested oppositionists on Friday, April 10. On his Facebook page the politician wrote that &ldquo;upon meeting political prisoners Sefilian, Avetisyan, and Manukyan at <em>Vardashen<\/em> prison,&rdquo; he urged Manukyan to stop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/04\/08\/arrested-armenian-oppositionists-banned-from-their-right-to-communicate-with-the-outside-world.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">his hunger strike<\/span><\/a>. The latter, as stated by Pashinyan, promised to think about it. The opposition MP was the first political figure&nbsp;to recognize the arrested &ldquo;Founding Parliament&rdquo; members as political prisoners.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWhile at <em>Vardashen<\/em>, Pashinyan also met with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2014\/11\/05\/film-shants-revolution.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">political prisoner Shant Harutyunyan<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">At <em>Nubarashen<\/em> penitentiary the politician met with Garegin Chugaszyan and Gevorg Safaryan, as well as the other men <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/02\/02\/court-of-appeals-rejects-shant-harutyunyan-and-friends-appeal-and-leaves-the-sentence-unchanged.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">arrested<\/span><\/a> in connection with Shant Harutyunyan&#39;s case; Vahe Mkrtchyan, Armen Hovhannisyan, Sevak Mnatsakanyan, Liparit Petrosyan, Hayk Harutyunyan, Avetis Avetisyan, Alek Poghosyan, Albert Margaryan.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Armenian law enforcement found a grenade on the roof of Hakobyan&#8217;s house on the day of the arrest, authorities said.
