{"id":266502,"date":"2015-06-30T15:11:16","date_gmt":"2015-06-30T11:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=266502"},"modified":"2015-06-30T15:12:20","modified_gmt":"2015-06-30T11:12:20","slug":"victims-of-police-brutality-during-yerevan-protest-dispersal-appeal-to-ecthr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2015\/06\/30\/victims-of-police-brutality-during-yerevan-protest-dispersal-appeal-to-ecthr.html","title":{"rendered":"Victims of Police Brutality During Yerevan Protest Dispersal Appeal to ECtHR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">16 Armenian citizens, among them &ndash; two reporters, who were injured on June 23 morning during the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/06\/26\/epress-am-recovers-video-material-seized-by-armenian-police-during-sit-in-dispersal-video.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">violent dispersal<\/span><\/a> by the RA police of the peaceful demonstration on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/06\/30\/demonstration-in-downtown-yerevan-enters-a-stage-of-self-organization.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">Baghramyan Avenue<\/span><\/a> in Yerevan, have lodged an urgent appeal with the European Court of Human Rights, one of the applicants, coordinator of &quot;Union of Informed Citizens&quot; NGO Daniel Ioannisyan said in an interview with Epress.am.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tUrgent appeals are provided for cases where there is a possibility of crime prevention; such applications allow to circumvent domestic courts. The complaint, Ioannisyan said, was lodged two days ago: the plaintiffs&#39; testimonies, as well as facts about police use of excessive force against demonstrators have been presented as evidence.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2policeforces.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"2policeforces\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-266496\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2policeforces.jpg\" width=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2policeforces.jpg 400w, https:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2policeforces-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;We have not received an answer yet; however, according to ECtHR procedure, the Court must have had already sent an inquiry to the Government of Armenia in connection with the June 23 events and the threat of recurrence of violence. As we can see, after the complaint, police have become cautious in their actions towards protesters. Thus, the government wants to refute our claim about the threat of recurrence of violence.
