{"id":269109,"date":"2015-11-09T13:42:19","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T09:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=269109"},"modified":"2015-11-09T13:42:19","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T09:42:19","slug":"glassmaking-company-promises-to-pay-part-of-employees-back-wages-by-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2015\/11\/09\/glassmaking-company-promises-to-pay-part-of-employees-back-wages-by-weekend.html","title":{"rendered":"Glassmaking Company Promises to Pay Part of Employees&#8217; Back Wages by Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Armenian Byureghavan&#39;s Glass World Company has promised to pay part of the back wages by November 15 in response to the employees&#39; numerous complaints and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2015\/10\/22\/armenian-glassmaking-company-employees-hold-protest-demand-6-months-back-wages.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">protest actions<\/span><\/a> in recent months, Epress.am was told by a staffer who wished to remain anonymous.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Note, the plant came to a sudden standstill in August this year, and the company still owes its 300 employees 3 to 6 months&#39; salaries.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;We picketed the plant [in Byureghavan], [held a protest action] in Yerevan asking the Government to help us. Now they&#8217;ve promised to pay part [of the wage arrears] by November 15. [The management] says they can&#39;t give it all at once; however, they haven&#39;t specified how much they&#39;ll pay on the 15th,&rdquo; the interviewee said.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDuring a protest action in front of the Government building in late October, Aleksander Ghazaryan, Head of the Government&#39;s Department for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions, told the demonstrators the Cabinet could not help them since Glass World Company is a private firm and urged the employees to &ldquo;go to court if you want to.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211; We picketed the plant [in Byureghavan], [held a protest action] in Yerevan asking the Government to help us.
