\n\tAccording to the relatives of Lusine Abovyan, the 76-year-old resident of Koti border village in northeastern Armenia who was detained<\/span><\/a> on the Azerbaijani side of the frontier on November 8, do not believe the elderly woman could have gotten lost and crossed into Azerbaijan accidentally.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with local Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, Abovyan's daughter-in-law, Ghushik Bejanyan, said they'd found out that the woman was in Azerbaijan from the media. On November 8, as stated by Bejanyan, her mother-in-law went to her sister's house on the outskirts of the village. “She often visited her sister. She couldn't have gotten lost, there's no way. She was not unfamiliar with this area. Everyone in the village is of the same opinion that it was impossible for her to get lost.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGhushik Bejanyan added that Abovyan did not stay at the sister's house too long. The sister's daughter-in-law wanted to see her off, but the woman insisted she could reach home herself, “she is not a little kid.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to the interviewee, the house is located 1.5 km from the border; besides, there's a trench along the border. “She couldn't have crossed that trench; she's an old woman. Even I wouldn't be able to cross it, it's so deep.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGhushik Bejanyan did not rule out the possibility that Abovyan might have ended up in Azerbaijan as a result of a sabotage attack. “Nobody can say for sure, but this theory is also being discussed. A person suddenly goes missing and appears in Azerbaijan. And she didn't even have any problems.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
