As a result, the country is facing a deepening human rights crisis and democratic regression, New Armenia opposition movement member Varuzhan Avetisyan said during a Tuesday rally in front of the office of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSeveral dozen demonstrators condemned today a Yerevan district court&#39;s decision not to grant bail to jailed New Armenia member Gevorg Safaryan who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/01\/07\/human-rights-defenders-name-arrested-opposition-activist-first-political-prisoner-of-2016.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">was arrested on New Year&#39;s Eve<\/span><\/a> during a scuffle with law enforcement officers and charged with violence against police.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe rally, Varuzhan Avetisyan said, was held with the purpose of delivering the assessments and statements by Human Rights Watch and International Federation for Human Rights regarding Safaryan&#39;s arrest.
