{"id":271536,"date":"2016-03-10T12:04:35","date_gmt":"2016-03-10T08:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=271536"},"modified":"2016-03-10T12:05:57","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T08:05:57","slug":"law-enforcement-initiate-proceedings-based-on-gasparis-beating-allegations-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/03\/10\/law-enforcement-initiate-proceedings-based-on-gasparis-beating-allegations-press.html","title":{"rendered":"Law Enforcement Initiate Proceedings Based on Gaspari&#8217;s Beating Allegations: Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Armenia&#39;s Special Investigation Service (SIS) has initiated criminal proceedings on charges of official negligence in connection with beating allegations voiced by Yerevan-based civic activist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/02\/26\/vardges-gaspari-to-be-released-from-jail-appeal-court-rules.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">Vardges Gaspari<\/span><\/a> following his week-long custody at the city&#39;s Nubarashen prison, Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper reports, citing SIS spokesperson Mikayel Aharonyan.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn February 25, while incarcerated in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/02\/24\/gaspari-subjected-to-torture-inhuman-treatment-in-prison-lawyer-says.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">Nubarashen<\/span><\/a>, Gaspari informed the rapid response team of the Armenian Ombudsman&#39;s office that he had been subjected to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/02\/25\/i-crawled-out-of-the-cell-and-refused-to-go-back-gaspari-recounts-brutal-torture-in-prison.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000FF;\">severe mental and physical abuse<\/span><\/a> by his cell mates.
