{"id":274690,"date":"2016-09-13T15:51:29","date_gmt":"2016-09-13T11:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=274690"},"modified":"2016-09-13T15:51:29","modified_gmt":"2016-09-13T11:51:29","slug":"armenian-authorities-yet-to-lift-travel-ban-on-anti-government-activist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/09\/13\/armenian-authorities-yet-to-lift-travel-ban-on-anti-government-activist.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenian Authorities Yet to Lift Travel Ban on Anti-Government Activist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Artak Gevorgyan, an Armenian artist and activist who was <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/06\/24\/armenian-artist-cleared-of-hooliganism-charges.html\"><span style=\"color:#000080;\">brought to trial<\/span><\/a><\/strong> earlier this year for crashing a home-made cardboard tank into the building of the country&#39;s National Security Service (NSS), is not allowed to leave the country despite having been acquitted by a Yerevan court.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSpeaking to Epress.am Tuesday, Gevorgyan said that the acquittal verdict was issued on June 24 and the travel ban imposed on him should have been lifted accordingly within a month after he was acquitted. However, the artist has since been detained twice at the Bagratashen checkpoint when trying to travel to Georgia.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;In September, when I tried to cross the border for the second time, I was handcuffed and taken to the Bagratashen police station.
