{"id":274986,"date":"2016-10-06T10:53:06","date_gmt":"2016-10-06T06:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=274986"},"modified":"2016-10-06T10:54:26","modified_gmt":"2016-10-06T06:54:26","slug":"vanadzor-city-council-member-accused-of-beating-local-church-head-released-on-own-recognizance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/10\/06\/vanadzor-city-council-member-accused-of-beating-local-church-head-released-on-own-recognizance.html","title":{"rendered":"Vanadzor City Council Member Accused of Beating Local Church Head Released on Own Recognizance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Arkady Peleshyan, the newly-elected Vanadzor city council member accused of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/10\/05\/head-of-armenian-evangelical-church-beaten-by-newly-elected-city-council-member.html\"><span style=\"color:#000080;\">severely beating<\/span><\/a><\/strong> on October 4 the head of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Vanadzor, has been released on his own recognizance Wednesday evening; before that, the representative of the&nbsp;Armenian Renaissance party <em>(formerly Rule of Law)&nbsp;<\/em>had been taken for interrogation, where he refused to testify, Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper reports.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPeleshyan, the daily writes, has a prior criminal conviction for hooliganism; furthermore, &ldquo;according to circulating rumors, Peleshyan is a recreational drug user and on the day of the incident he was most likely acting under the influence of alcohol as well as other drugs.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tEarlier, Armenian media reported that Peleshyan has kinship ties to the deputy speaker of Armenian parliament Eduard Sharmazanov. Speaking to Haykakan Zhamanak, Sharmazanov&#39;s brother, Erik Sharmazanov, said he is the godfather of Peleshyan&#39;s kids.
