\n\tVardenis resident and a former locksmith at the Sotk gold mine Armen Yeranosyan<\/span><\/a><\/strong> claims he was subjected to violent and derogatory treatment by law-enforcement officers and the staff of Yerevan's Nubarashen psychiatric hospital where he forcibly spent 3 days after staging a 5-day hunger strike and stitching up his lips outside the Government building in protest of being unfairly fired from his job.<\/span><\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“They'd inject me with drugs three times a day; I'd get numb and lose consciousness, and when I'd finally come to, I'd ask them not to inject me any more,” Yeranosyan, who was allowed to leave<\/span><\/a><\/strong> the mental hospital only after the intervention of the human rights activists from the Armenian Helsinki Association, said in an Epress.am interview following his release. “But they'd forcibly put pills into my mouth and inject me over and over again," he added.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“They'd forcibly put pills into my mouth and inject me over and over again […] I was not the only one there who was being subjected to ill-treatment; the staff would forcibly put pills into the other patients' mouths and then hit them so strongly that the pill would fall out. I could not watch it; it was a very stressful experience for me, but all my please to take me to a solitary room were ignored.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to Yeranosyan, the Nubarashen staff threatened to get a court order and keep the man at the psychiatric hospital for 6 months if he refused to take the drugs; “Then they said they'd repeatedly extend the period and I'd spend my whole life there,” he said, adding that he intended to continue his protest actions outside the Government building despite the persecution that he had to suffer.\n<\/p>\n
