{"id":275487,"date":"2016-11-09T17:27:02","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T13:27:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=275487"},"modified":"2016-11-09T17:57:36","modified_gmt":"2016-11-09T13:57:36","slug":"former-armenian-mp-threatens-to-hurt-ex-wife-and-send-her-to-jail-lawyer-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/11\/09\/former-armenian-mp-threatens-to-hurt-ex-wife-and-send-her-to-jail-lawyer-reports.html","title":{"rendered":"Former Armenian MP Threatens to &#8216;Hurt&#8217; Ex-Wife and Send Her to Jail, Lawyer Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">Arsen Avagyan (pictured), a former MP with the Prosperous Armenia Party, is threatening his &nbsp;former wife, Lusine Avagyan, who has had to flee the country with their child, Ani Torosyan, a lawyer for Avagyan, reported to Armenia&#39;s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahr.am\/index.php\/ARM\/118-%D5%B6%D5%B8%D6%80%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%A9%D5%B5%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B6%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80\/2089-%D5%A1%D5%AA-%D5%B6%D5%A1%D5%AD%D5%AF%D5%AB%D5%B6-%D5%BA%D5%A1%D5%BF%D5%A3%D5%A1%D5%B4%D5%A1%D5%BE%D5%B8%D6%80%D5%A8-%D5%BD%D5%BA%D5%A1%D5%BC%D5%B6%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B4-%D5%A7-%D5%AF%D5%B6%D5%B8%D5%BB%D5%B6-%D5%B8%D6%82-%D5%B6%D6%80%D5%A1-%D5%B0%D5%A1%D6%80%D5%A1%D5%A6%D5%A1%D5%BF%D5%B6%D5%A5%D6%80%D5%AB%D5%B6-%D5%BF%D5%A5%D5%BD%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%B5%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%A9\"><span style=\"color:#000080;\">Helsinki Association for Human Rights<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAccording to Torosyan, the former parliamentarian repeatedly subjected Avagyan to physical abuse while they were married, and when she finally divorced him, he threatened to take her child away and make sure that the woman ended up in jail.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAfter filing a number of appeal letters with various state institutions, the lawyer discovered that Arsen Avagyan had alienated a significant part of the former spouses&#39; joint property, and when the former wife began to demand that she be reinstated as the owner of said property, the ex-MP started to threaten the woman.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;When Lusine turned to a lawyer, Arsen Avagyan began to pursue her; he sent her Viber messages, phoned her to say that he would cut off her nose and ears, would hurt her and make sure that she ended up in jail. The threats were constant; Lusine was even scared to go to the police. Being her lawyer, I offered to try to tame him and sent a letter to Arsen Avagyan, asking him to refrain from such behaviour.
