{"id":275517,"date":"2016-11-12T12:50:04","date_gmt":"2016-11-12T08:50:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=275517"},"modified":"2016-11-12T12:50:04","modified_gmt":"2016-11-12T08:50:04","slug":"yerevan-prisoner-ends-two-week-hunger-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/11\/12\/yerevan-prisoner-ends-two-week-hunger-strike.html","title":{"rendered":"Yerevan Prisoner Ends Two-Week Hunger Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tA prisoner at the Nubarashen jail in Yerevan, Narek Sargsyan, ended a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2016\/11\/02\/yerevan-prisoner-on-hunger-strike-over-continued-detention.html\"><span style=\"color:#000080;\">two-week hunger strike<\/span><\/a><\/strong> on November 11 after members of the Founding Parliament opposition movement sent him a letter advising Sargsyan against fruitlessly ruining his health, lawyer Arayik Papikyan told Epress.am today.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;I visited Narek yesterday and passed him a letter from Jirayr Sefilyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan, Arayik Khandoyan and Areg Kyureghyan. In the letter, [the oppositionists] urged Sargsyan to end the hunger strike, insisting that this method of protest is ineffective when it comes to the current regime in Armenia,&rdquo; Papikyan said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe 24-year-old native of Armenia&#39;s Gekharkunik province started the hunger strike at the end of October in protest of his continued &ldquo;unlawful&rdquo; detention. Sargsyan was arrested on July 20, during a protest action in support of Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sasun), the Founding Parliament-affiliated armed group that seized a Yerevan police station on July 17.
