{"id":276460,"date":"2016-12-14T16:47:49","date_gmt":"2016-12-14T12:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=276460"},"modified":"2016-12-14T17:09:17","modified_gmt":"2016-12-14T13:09:17","slug":"civil-servants-forced-to-buy-artsakh-national-lottery-tickets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/12\/14\/civil-servants-forced-to-buy-artsakh-national-lottery-tickets.html","title":{"rendered":"Government Workers  Forced to Buy Lottery Tickets to &#8216;Help&#8217; Karabakh Soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The staffs of a number of Armenian ministries and their subordinate non-profits organizations are being mandated to buy Artsakh National Lottery tickets \u201cto help resolve the social issues of Nagorno-Karabakh defense army servicemen.\u201d According to information available to Epress.am, some of the employees of the non-profits have tried to refuse to buy the 2000-dram tickets, but had to eventually oblige when told by superiors that the \u201ccontribution\u201d was mandatory.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-276431 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/loto.jpg\" alt=\"loto\" width=\"624\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of the lottery, according to its official description, is to contribute to the production and distribution of national handicrafts around the world. \u201cGet one lottery ticket and take collective responsibility for the development of Artsakh,\u201d the description on the ticket says.<\/p>\n<p>According to multiple past media reports, the voluntary-compulsory distribution of the lottery tickets in various state institutions has been ongoing for many years. In 2014, Hraparak newspaper wrote that Yerevan schoolteachers were being forced to sell the tickets at schools. In 2013, Haykakan Zhamanak had reported that the tickets were being circulated at the National Agrarian University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur reporter visited the university and saw the lottery&#8217;s advertising posters inside the building. &#8216;You win \u2013 wins the country,&#8217; the posters said.
