{"id":277363,"date":"2017-01-16T15:28:49","date_gmt":"2017-01-16T11:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=277363"},"modified":"2017-01-16T15:29:13","modified_gmt":"2017-01-16T11:29:13","slug":"armenias-justice-ministry-received-32-6-million-in-foreign-grants-in-2007-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/01\/16\/armenias-justice-ministry-received-32-6-million-in-foreign-grants-in-2007-2015.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenia&#8217;s Justice Ministry Received $32.6 Million in Foreign Grants in 2007-2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>In the period 2007-2015, the Armenian Ministry of Justice has received foreign grants of more than 32.6 million USD, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Union of Informed Citizens NGO as part of its series on foreign grants received by Armenian state bodies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-277369\" src=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/grantseng.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thus, the <strong>World Bank<\/strong> has awarded the following grants to the Judicial Projects Implementation Unit:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dutch grant<\/strong>: 2008-2010, 4,8 million USD<br \/>\n<strong>Japanese grant<\/strong>: 2007-2013, 3 million USD<br \/>\nCurrently, a 468 thousand USD worth grant program aimed at enhancement of training capacities of the RA School of Advocates is being implemented.<\/p>\n<p>Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the <strong>US Department of State<\/strong> has awarded the following grants to the \u201cOffenders Rehabilitation Center\u201d SNCO through \u201cPH International\u201d Armenian Branch:<\/p>\n<p>About 900 USD for \u201cEqual Opportunities for All Children\u201d project in January-May 2014,<br \/>\nAround 4,700 USD for the implementation of the program \u201cCreation of Parents\u2019 Club among Women Prisoners in Abovyan Penitentiary\u201d,<br \/>\nSince December 2015, this organization also funds the 3920 USD worth program called \u201cPromotion of Justice Accessibility for Children\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Within the framework of the grants received from the <strong>Council of Europe<\/strong>, the RA Ministry of Justice implements the following projects:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrengthening the Independence, Professionalism and Accountability of the Justice System in Armenia: 2.2 million USD,<br \/>\nSupport to the Establishment of a Probation Service in Armenia: 732 thousand USD,<br \/>\n\u201cStrengthening the Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights in Armenia\u201d: 1.3 million USD,<br \/>\n\u201cStrengthening Health Care and Human Rights Protection in Prisons in Armenia\u201d: around 1 million USD.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>German Government<\/strong> has provided the following grants to the RA Government:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudicial Reforms\u201d regional program, for the implementation of which 9 million USD was provided in 2014,<br \/>\n\u201cStudy and Expert Fund\u201d program, for which 1.7 million USD was provided in 2014 ,<br \/>\n\u201cStudy and Expert Fund \u2013 Capacity Enhancement\u201d program, for the implementation of which 3.84 million USD was provided in 2013 and more than 4.2 million USD in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, \u201cImproving Access to Justice for Children in Armenia\u201d program was implemented by <strong>UNICEF<\/strong> (United Nations Children\u2019s Fund). The grant project cost more than 41 thousand USD.
