{"id":278777,"date":"2017-02-10T18:03:16","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T14:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=278777"},"modified":"2017-02-10T18:04:33","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T14:04:33","slug":"newly-arrested-man-who-delivered-food-to-opposition-armed-group-goes-on-hunger-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/02\/10\/newly-arrested-man-who-delivered-food-to-opposition-armed-group-goes-on-hunger-strike.html","title":{"rendered":"Newly Arrested Man Who Delivered Food to Opposition Armed Group Goes on Hunger Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Artur Sargsyan, a Yerevan man who was <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/02\/10\/yerevan-man-suspected-of-assisting-anti-government-armed-group-arrested-again.html\">yet again arrested<\/a><\/span><\/strong> on Friday on suspicion of assisting the opposition gunmen who kept a Yerevan police station under a two-week siege last summer, has gone on a hunger strike today, refusing to accept the food that his family members brought him to the Convicts&#8217; Hospital, one of his relatives told Epress.am, wishing to remain unnamed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Armenian Women&#8217;s Front civil initiative (AWF) held a demonstration outside the Special Investigation Service building in support of Sargsyan. Speaking to Epress.am, AWF member Syuzan Simonyan said the demonstrators had taken with them a bag full of bread to the protest action, which they later handed over to passers by as a symbol of solidarity with Sargsyan&#8217;s actions last summer.<\/p>\n<p>On July 26, Artur Sargsyan drove through the police cordon around the seized police station to deliver food to the members of the <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/07\/31\/yerevan-gunmen-put-down-their-weapons.html\">Sasna Tsrer<\/a><\/span><\/strong> armed group. He was subsequently arrested and charged with assisting the gunmen in hostage-taking and illegal firearms and ammunition transportation.
