{"id":278854,"date":"2017-02-13T12:29:33","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T08:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=278854"},"modified":"2017-02-13T12:29:33","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T08:29:33","slug":"opposition-gunman-held-in-dilapidated-cell-lawyer-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/02\/13\/opposition-gunman-held-in-dilapidated-cell-lawyer-says.html","title":{"rendered":"Opposition Gunman Held in Dilapidated Cell, Lawyer Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As of the end of last week, Sasna Tsrer armed group member <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/02\/07\/european-court-requests-jailed-opposition-gunmans-health-records-from-armenias-government.html\">Hovhannes Harutyunyan<\/a><\/span><\/strong> was being held in a ground-floor cell in Yerevan&#8217;s Nubarashen prison, despite justice minister Arpine Hovhannisyan&#8217;s claims that these cells are no longer suitable for human habitation, Harutyunyan&#8217;s lawyer, Hayarpi Sargsyan, told Epress.am on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Armlur.am yesterday published an interview with justice minister Hovhannisyan regarding the January <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/01\/23\/protesting-yerevan-prisoners-transferred-to-cell-resembling-pigpen.html\">acts of self-harm<\/a><\/span><\/strong> by Nubarashen inmates in protest of the prison management\u2019s decision to transfer them to fifth-floor cells from the ground floor. In the interview, the minister insisted that \u201cno one is supposed to be held in the ground-floor cells any more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In contradictions with the statements made by Hovhannisyan and the Nubarashen administration, however, Hovhannes Harutyunyan is still being kept in a dilapidated ground-floor cell, the lawyer said. Sargsyan also commented on her client&#8217;s health state, saying that in addition to the <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/07\/26\/several-injured-on-both-sides-after-overnight-fire-exchange-between-police-and-%e2%80%98daredevils-of-sasun%e2%80%99.html\">leg pains<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, Harutyunyan has now started complaining of back pain\u2024<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn January 17, Harutyunyan received a severe blow to his back and sustained a rib injury. He does not want to specify whether he was hit by his inmates or prison officers. Anyhow, he has yet to receive any medical help.
