{"id":278906,"date":"2017-02-13T17:42:05","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T13:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=278906"},"modified":"2017-02-13T20:45:48","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T16:45:48","slug":"participant-of-anti-government-rally-released-from-detention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/02\/13\/participant-of-anti-government-rally-released-from-detention.html","title":{"rendered":"Participant of Anti-Government Rally Released from Detention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hovhannes Ghazaryan, a supporter of the Founding Parliament anti-government movement who was arrested last July and charged with arson, destruction or damage of property, use of firearms, and armed resistance to the authorities, has been released from detention, the Helsinki Citizens Assembly Vanadzor office (HCAV) reports.<\/p>\n<p>According to the HCAV statement, the Criminal Appeal Court in Yerevan today overturned a January 23 lower court decision to extend Ghazaryan\u2019s detention period for two more months and set him free right in the courtroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGhazaryan did not commit any crime; he simply exercised his right to participation in rallies, and no one was hurt as a result of his actions. Moreover, he was charged solely on the basis of police testimony, without any actual evidence,\u201d HCAV said.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/07\/30\/armenian-police-use-special-means-against-supporters-of-erebuni-gunmen-video.html\">on July 29, 2016<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, hundreds of people, including Ghazaryan, organized a march in Yerevan\u2019s Sari Tagh neighborhood in support of the Founding Parliament-affiliated armed group occupying a nearby police station.
