Preliminary results published by Armenia\u2019s Central Election Commission gave the party 71.45% of the vote, which means <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that the RPA will get the majority of seats in the new city council. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The opposition Yelk alliance and its mayoral candidate Nikol Pashinyan got 21.2% of the vote, and the third contender, opposition lawmaker Zaruhi Postanjyan\u2019s Yerkir Tsirani party, got only 8%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the CEC, only 40.99% of Yerevan\u2019s eligible voting population turned out to vote in the election, which the opposition candidates claim <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">were <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">marred<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by widespread <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">voter fraud<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including vote-buying and ballot-box stuffing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Just days before the election, Yelk appealed to the CEC, demanding that the ruling party be disqualified from the race because Taron Margaryan\u2019s campaign office, they argued, had been filmed by a Yerevan reporter distributing bribes and pre-marked ballot papers among citizens.
