{"id":281885,"date":"2017-08-26T14:47:30","date_gmt":"2017-08-26T10:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am\/?p=281885"},"modified":"2017-08-26T14:47:30","modified_gmt":"2017-08-26T10:47:30","slug":"new-forensic-examination-to-be-conducted-in-case-of-armenian-veterans-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/08\/26\/new-forensic-examination-to-be-conducted-in-case-of-armenian-veterans-death.html","title":{"rendered":"New Forensic Examination to Be Conducted in Case of Armenian Veteran\u2019s Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The investigation into the 2014 death of Karabakh war veteran <strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2015\/04\/09\/suspects-in-the-beating-of-war-veteran-released-from-prison.html\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Vardan Tumanyan<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> has been ongoing for two years; currently, it is in a deadlock since the results of the four forensic medical examinations conducted as part of the case contradict each other.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tigran Muradyan, lawyer for Tumanyan\u2019s widow Tanya Melkumyan, told Epress.am on Friday that at an August 17 hearing the court decided to grant their motion for a new forensic medical examination. Muradyan has already submitted his question to the new expert.<\/p>\n<p>Tumanyan\u2019s legal successors consider it absurd that the latest medical examination concluded that the veteran\u2019s death was not caused by the beating to which he had been subjected the day before. Tumanyan has been beaten by Victor Hovsepyan, Sargis Ghukasyan and their uncle Gevorg Sargsyan, known by the nickname <span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2016\/11\/29\/assault-suspect-stabbed-while-partying-after-badly-beating-wife.html\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Jungle<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>. The young people had come \u201cto see\u201d Tumanyan after the latter quarrelled with their grandfather while playing chess.<\/p>\n<p>A forensic medical examination conducted by a group of experts invited by Armenia\u2019s health ministry had found that Tumanyan&#8217;s death was caused by a birth defect. After this conclusion, the three defendants were released on their own recognizance.
