{"id":282977,"date":"2017-12-14T19:37:22","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T15:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epress.am?p=282977"},"modified":"2017-12-14T19:37:22","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T15:37:22","slug":"students-convinced-their-alternative-deferment-proposal-realizable-and-benefits-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/12\/14\/students-convinced-their-alternative-deferment-proposal-realizable-and-benefits-state.html","title":{"rendered":"Students Convinced Their Alternative Deferment Proposal \u2018Realizable and Benefits State&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Armenia\u2019s defense and education ministries have welcomed the <span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/11\/15\/yerevan-students-block-central-street-as-parliament-abolished-military-draft-deferments.html\">military deferment options<\/a><\/strong><\/span> put forward by students; however, there\u2019s still no clear indication that the proposals will be approved by the authorities, Hayk Zakaryan, a member of the For the Development of Science students group, said in conversation with Epress.am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have had three meetings thus far with [defense deputy minister] Artak Zakaryan, [education minister] Levon Mkrtchyan and [defense minister] Vigen Sargsyan]. They have all welcomed the deferment options that we suggested, but there are still no agreement on either making them official or implementing them,\u201d Zakaryan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have proposed to introduce a new set of standards making it possible to track the students\u2019 progress and see whether they are eligible for a deferment. For example, if a student manages to score 70-80 points out of a total of 100, then he will be considered successful and promising, and the government will therefore grant him a deferment.
